Hi Everybody!!
I'd like to build a plane for the rubber race, but its been years since l've built up a rubber power plane. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for brands, wingspan, type of plane? Also, where is a good place buy a Kit; l used to get them at the hobby shop in Grimsby they had a great selections (so i thought, anyways) for rubber power but that was a very long time ago. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Don A

Hi Don, Well Skycraft on Plaines Rd probably have the best selection of Rubber Powered Aircraft in the area. You can build something scale if you want but it's really all about the flying at this event. You will get extra points per flight for a scale job and an extra point if it will successfully ROG (Rise Off the Ground) under it's own power. Some have been successful with the MAAC Delta Dart. Heck we even have an ARF category if you want to just get one of those inexpensive Gillows stick planes with the solid balsa wings. Just build something and fly it because it is a numbers game when we compete against the Burlington Guys. Some of us will be bringing out [planes to the February meeting to do some test flying. Come out and check it out. You do go to club meetings don't you? ;D

Thanks Jim, i love to build these i started one last night, a small 16.5" wingspan Hellcat. if its successful it will be at the race if not, then a stick plane it is. I tried skycraft and the selection seemed low, i did stubble across 30% off sale at the hobby and toy store at Mapleview mall which was great i picked up the kit for a little over $8.00, seemed like a deal to me. if its not a success than its no real loss.
... and yes i do my best to get out to the meetings.
i was hoping more comments would be made about the event and planes members were bringing, i was under the impression, this was a fun time and members leaned more to building planes rather than buying stick planes. what evers easliest i guess, i like the challenge.
Thanks.

Don,
Just like in R/C today most guys go for the ARFs, it's a time thing I think.
You will see lots of built models from the Burlington guys though.
Not to many people from the club on here yet but don't give up the forum has only been up for two months. ;D
See you Wednesday.
