I am in the process of researching the possibility of starting an indoor flying group. The major hurdle is finding enough flyers with the time to participate as it is difficult to book a gym during peak hours. At least it is here in Ancaster! It is impossible to book the gym on weekends and after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Therefore, if you are retired or available, want to have something to do in the off flying season, and perhaps bored looking at snow and ice - please get back to me. Should - say - 6 flyers be interested, then we could book the gym here in Ancaster on an experimental basis to determine how it works out. The cost would be $8 per person (6 people) for an hour of flying. For this amount we would get half of their double gym. It is a nice facility, well lit, high ceiling and plenty of room. I know that I do not want to put much money into purchasing an indoor plane or two until I have a place to fly. Indoor helicopters would be welcome as well. Besides myself, I have one other person interested, so all we need are 4 more to make it viable. Let me know your thoughts a.s.a.p. Cheers - John Mickle bernzieandjohn@yahoo.com

Hi Johnm, Let me know when you book. I'll give it a go. The new year would give me time to get something up and flying. Jack

Don and Jack: Maybe my message was not too clear . . . the only times we can book the gym are on weekdays sometime during the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. subject to availability. The gym is completely booked after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and completely sold out on weekends. . . I hope this makes matters clearer. . . Cheers - John Mickle. . . Don let me know if this information changes your position. . . Thanks

John, I'm self employed and make my own hours. Flying is more important to me than work anyway. Lost of time to work, little time to play. Life is good.

Mr. Graham: Thank you for replying and am pleased to learn that you are now retired and perhaps wish to get back into the hobby/sport. In regards indoor flying, you and I are in the same boat - between a rock and a hard place. Why purchase the equipment if you have no place to fly? However, nice to know that you may be interested. My purpose was to perhaps get some interest started. Nice to know that you: "might be interested in this kind of thing". . . perhaps over time we could get others involved and who knows what could happen. I am not confident that anything will transpire this year (winter of 2007 - 2208) but maybe next year - who knows. Would be great to see you at the field in 2008 - you will find out that retirement is fantastic but it is nice to have someone to play with. . . Cheers - John Mickle
