There is a question as to whether or not there will be a swap meet this year. I hope we do have one. Anybody care to comment, or better yet, anybody care to step up and say "I will do it" Joe

Yes seems we missed discussing this at the last meeting. I have had some inquirries on RC Canada asking about this.
If I recall Nick asked for sosmeone to step up and run this and there were no takers so he squashed the idea. I believe this was at the last meeting before the summer.

I was merely making a play on the words that Joe used. It was a joke (note the many smiley faces) and not intended to cause harm or anguish to anyone.

No apology needed, I understand. but seriously: It is not the presidents place to "squash the event" However he is right in saying that it will not happen if no-one does it!
I have run enough events to realize it is not that hard to do. We have one person offering to help. (Thanks Richard) This is a good start. If someone else would volunteer, two people could do it together.
What has to be done? 1. book the room 2. buy tickets for entry fee (optional) 3. have someone sell the tickets 4. set up tables 5. accept reservations for tables 6. collect money for table rental
Am I missing anything?

However he is right in saying that it will not happen if no-one does it! And that is what he said since last years event and it has fallen on deaf ears , no one volunteered so its dead in the water , finito , squashed , not happenin , whats the diff. we quit floggin the dead horse so its off the agenda .

How it is said makes a big difference to me, and maybe some others.
To say it is squashed sounds like a totalitarian government setting out a decree!
If we do not find anyone to run it, the event will die a natural death.

"If" the pres says " we have no one to run an event therefore it is squashed " that makes it a totalitarian decree I think that just makes it a matter of fact . Nick has offered a list of things to do to run the event ( and any event for that matter ,, many times ) at the meetings but no one was interested (or listening ) . Maybe he and I (mostly he) should run it again this year with no help ... Not happenin .. See the frustration . No one is steppin up to the plate for the Presidency either and the dictator will not do it next year . ;D ;D ;D Any Volunteers . ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

My Bad!
I paraphrazed what Nick said and I inserted the word SQUASHED.
Sorry if I upset anyone. The bottom line unless some member of the club is willing to organize one it will not happen.
